School Prevention Programs

New Programs in May

  • Project SELFIE was developed to help teach young people how to make good online decisions and to recognize that they might need help in certain situations. This program is a continuation of the SAFE-T program that students completed in 7th and 8th grade. It consists of two sessions that focus on building an understanding of what we can do to be safe while interacting with others online.

SADD Club

SADD Club wrapped up the year with a fun and well‑deserved end‑of‑year celebration. We also planned for a school beautification project on June 1st. We collected donations from several local businesses, like Agway, Franklin's Flowers, and Sinclair's Hardware to plant flowers around the school's welcome sign. Thanks to their support, we’ll be able to fill the entrance with bright colors and fresh greenery,

Independent Living

At our first meeting in May, we were joined by an engaging speaker from AmeriHealth, who walked us through practical ways to take care of our bodies and minds every day. We talked about building healthy habits around nutrition, sleep, and movement and why regular checkups and preventive care matter. Students had the chance to ask questions and walk away with realistic tips they can start using right now to feel their best.

At our second meeting in May, we welcomed a speaker from the local fire company for a hands-on lesson in fire safety. We learned what to do in an emergency, the different types of fires, and the importance of working smoke detectors and clear exits. The highlight of the session was getting to practice with real fire extinguishers and using the PASS method—Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep—to put out controlled fires. It was a fun, memorable way to build confidence and learn skills that could truly save lives.
