Pathways Conference

Renee and Bethany will be attending PCCD's Victim Services Conference from September 10th through the 12th at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center. This conference is an opportunity for us to build our skills, network, and ride some waterslides with other victim service providers and allied professionals. Come back in September to see what all we got up to!

Post-Conference Update

In the second week of September, Bethany and Renee spent three days at Kalahari Resort and Convention Center for the 18th Pathways conference. This conference is hosted every other year by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) Office of Victim Services (OVS). We attended a variety of workshops and learned so much. The topics included things like:

  • Intersectional AdvocacyIMG_6180
  • Human trafficking
  • Romance scams
  • Helping survivors of childhood sexual abuse
  • Advocacy through social media
  • Trauma informed community development
  • Promoting fairness in the justice system
  • Providing DV support
  • Tools to empower victims

Kalahari was an amazing place to attend a conference. Everything you could need could be found at the hotel. After spending the day learning and building skills at the conference, we would spend a few hours riding waterslides, relaxing in the swimming pool sized hot-tubs, and floating in the lazy river. Once we'd had our fill of the waterpark, we'd enjoy a delicious meal at one of the resort's restaurants.

This was Bethany's first time at Pathways and Renee's fourth time. We enjoy attending this conference because the workshops are always informative and give us lots of ideas on how we can better serve Sullivan County. We feel rejuvenated and inspired and can't wait for the next Pathways.
